Atlanta Food Not Bombs is run entirely by volunteers. We need your help! You don’t need any special skills, everyone can be useful somehow. Here are some ways to volunteer your time.
We start cooking our weekly meal every Sunday at 11AM at The Teardown, a community house at 80 Mayson Ave NE, Atlanta GA. Help is always needed chopping vegetables, organizing dishes, and preparing the meal to be served.
Serving begins every Sunday at around 2:30pm in Woodruff Park (a.k.a. Troy Davis Park) in Downtown Atlanta. Feel free to come help serve food, or just come to socialize with everyone who has gathered to enjoy a meal. Music, art and festivity is encouraged!
After the Sunday meal, we return to 80 Mayson Ave to clean up – usually around 5 or 6pm. Help is especially needed here, washing dishes, packing up leftovers for distribution, etc.
Generous donors often offer food, clothes, and other resources…but it’s a lot of work to move it all around! If you can volunteer to be available to occasionally pick up donations and transport them to a storage location, please get in touch. Reliability is mandatory, and access to a vehicle is a plus.
Ask your local grocery store, farmer’s market, restaurant, etc what they do with their excess food. Will they donate it to Food Not Bombs?
Talk to your friends, co-workers, students, congregation, etc about volunteering. Spread the word using our outreach materials.
